back together and continue to work out. it's a complex problem. we said since the beginning this would take time. our teams have gotten to know each other better. as we continue to work on this we can make progress. we can achieve what it is the world wants. reduce risk for the people around the world. i wish we could have gotten further but i'm optimistic the progress we made in the run up to the summit and the we are in a position to have a good outcome. the president and kim felt they had made the progress but couldn't have made a deal that would be bigger at this point.

>> has this process been more difficult than you thought and was the north korean demand of lifting of some sanctions a sticking point. >> it was about the sanctions. >> will there and a third summit. >> they wanted the sanctions lifted and we couldn't do that. they were willing to denuke a large portion of the areas we wanted. we couldn't give up all the sanctions for that. we continue to work and we'll see. we had to walk away from that particular suggestion. >> will all the sanctions in existence remain. >> they are in place. i was watching as you said we've given up. >> we haven't given up

anything, we'll end up being good friends with north korea. i've been telling have they have tremendous potential. we'll see. it was about sanctions. they wanted sanctions lifted but not an area we wanted. >> as we know, there's incredibly complex set of issues in terms of lifting the sanctions and what denuclearization is. did you get a vision of what his vision is. >> there's a lot of line of thinking he wants to keep some nukes. would you allow him to do that. >> i don't want to comment on that exactly. he has a vision and it not exactly our vision but it's
